When one door closes

We have a door!  Look at that beautiful beast.  It's nearly the size of a sheet of plywood (that's 4ft x 8ft), and much to our builder's dismay - weighs around 800 pounds.  Here's how it looks installed:

We love this door so much.  Let's count the ways:

1. It's enormous - it will make a huge statement (particularly from inside the house)
2. The horizontal slats, and horizontal grain are in keeping with the linear lines of the elevation
3. The finish is beautiful - it's a walnut veneer with a natural stain
4. The slender window breaks up the horizontality in just the right way (just like how the double height windows break up the horizontality of the elevation) 
5. Perhaps the coolest - it's a pivot door.  What's a pivot door?  Basically, instead of having hinges along the side of the door, there is a pin that sits off the edge that creates a point for the door to, you guessed it, pivot on.  Here's a picture of an open pivot door I found online:

So, as one side of the door swings in, the other side swings out.  Now that you know some details about the door, here's a closer look:

I can't wait to be able to use our door, but for now, I sure do love looking at it.
