So its been a while since my last post. Quite a bit has happened, which has kept me rather busy. Last you read, we put our house on the market. Well as it turns out, it wasn't on the market for very long. A super cute family made us an offer that we accepted. Pancake and I are so happy that our old farmhouse has found a new family that will love it as much as we have. We feel so incredibly lucky.
So now that the house is sold, what’s next? Glad you asked. For starters we found a very flexible lease pretty close to where we live now. The very flexible part happens to be the most important part. Why? Another great question!! To our surprise, and apparently everyone else's in Montgomery County, there was land for sale in Kensington…which we promptly made an offer on…which was promptly accepted. So, we are building a house!! Crazy, right? I’ve designed many single family homes for other people, but this is the first one I’m designing for my family (and maybe the last - we love Kensington). I’ll be writing about every step of the process (there are a ton of steps), and hope that it will be a fun and informative read for you. I’ll tag all of the posts with “New House” so you’ll quickly be able to read about everything that goes into building a new home. I can’t wait to share this process with you. Bye for now, TJ

I am a neighbor on Frederick Ave and would like to follow your journey of building your own house. I hope you are not too upset about the Town meeting last night. Twists and turns are part of life. I am sure you will have a beautiful house and you will find good and supportive neighbors. Like your wife, I also like to garden and I am looking forward to share plants with her when the time comes. I wish you the best!
