The forms for the foundation walls are off, and the garage slab is poured, which means as far as the house goes, we are done with concrete. Here, check it out: Do you know what that means??? WE'RE READY FOR WOOD!!! Here, check it out: That beautiful sight is our first floor being delivered. Those are open web trusses. I prefer them over typical floor framing because the webbing makes is easy to run pipes, wires, and ducts. While they are helpful during the new construction, they really shine if you ever want to change something down the road. I've spent the last 5+ years remodeling houses with typical floor framing (2x8's, 2x10's, etc), and know how limiting that system be. Let's say 15 years from now ours needs change, and we decide to remodel the house - using the open web trusses will make it really easy. The open system is essentially a form of insurance.
