Designing houses is really the only thing I can ever remember wanting to do (other than playing center field for the Yankees - spoiler alert, I didn't get much further than little league). As a kid, lego was my gateway to residential design. Lego eventually turned into cardboard models of houses. Cardboard models turned into drafting classes in high school. And drafting classes turned into two degrees in Architecture from The Catholic University of America.
I've been remodeling and designing houses since 2004, and have had the chance to work at a handful of great companies and with a lot of great clients. I'm elated to have the opportunity to take all of that experience, work with a pretty excellent business (and life) partner, and help to make families happier one house at a time. Like most kids, I too, built Lego houses, and then that turned into marrying someone who is obsessed with residential design - yes that would be TJ. Can I make that big of a leap? Through TJ’s architecture degrees, architecture firm and design/build positions, design consulting, and even an architectural teaching position, talking about design and space planning has always been a daily topic of conversation in our lives. Our kids even caught the designing bug and can often be found building Lego or Minecraft homes and drawing floor plans.
When not working on Designed Happy or marketing my children’s book, my day job is an attorney for a federal agency. As a kid, becoming a lawyer was really the only thing I ever wanted to be. |
